A spirit of Power and of Love and of a Sound mind.

When I received 2 Timothy 1:7 as the main verse for this year, it became clear to me what God wants us to focus on. Here it says,

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

So not a fearing holding back kind of spirit, but one of Power, Love and a Sound mind.

These are the characteristics of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

He makes it possible for us to do extraordinary things and overcome extraordinary circumstances! The Holy Spirit places us in a separate category of people, namely that of a child of God!

If God's Spirit were not in us, we would not be any different from other people in this world, and might feel just as hopeless as they do.

But it is precisely God's Spirit that gives us strength, as we also read in Ephesians 3:16 .

"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,.."

Our inner being it says here… and that includes our soul! So also our thoughts and emotions.

Here as well, God wants to give us strength to endure times of uncertainty. Not to get confused, but to experience God's peace through the power of the Spirit.

The greatest challenge we face is to keep our minds on God and not let our emotions get the upper hand.

Not an easy task given the current circumstances. But one thing I know for sure: if you trust in God, you don't have to worry.

The end of the world hasn't come yet, and God is still on the throne.

In Phillipians 4:6-7 it says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

 Going to God when you need something and thanking Him for His provision brings a peace in your life that passes all understanding!

 I don't need to understand everything that is happening around me, I just need God's power to overcome it.

Colossians 1:11 “…being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance..."
